The Doctoral Candidates' Representation

Welcome to the website of the doctoral candidates' representatives on the Executive Committee and the Advisory Board of the Graduate Center.

The Doctoral Candidates' Representation is elected at the doctoral candidates' General Assembly for a one-year term (April till April). There is one representative plus one substitute on the Executive Committee and there are four representatives plus one substitute each on the Advisory Board.

The general assembly of doctoral students is expected to take place at the end of January 2021 digitally. We will inform you as soon as an appointment has been made.

In the assembly, the representation of the doctoral candidates and their goals will be presented and a new one will be elected.

Our objectives for the period 2019 - 2020

As doctoral candidates you are represented for the period 2019 - 2020 at the Graduate Center by Jinru He, Johanna Ira Blase, Danielle Harris, Georgios Marinos, Tommy Breslein (all Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences), Sascha Boelcke (Faculty of Arts and Humanities), Bráulio Borges Barreiros (Faculty of Law), Igor Kindop, Askar Mukashov (both Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences), and Leonard Siebert (Faculty of Engineering).

In the year ahead, we plan to promote our representation by focusing on the following topics:

1.    Securing a supervision agreement, outlining the level of supervision required during each doctoral candidate's doctorate

2.    Increasing the standard of the Federal State Scholarship

3.    Promoting gender equality and diversity

4.    Coordinating diverse career development resources

5.    Implementing the Open Space initiative - establishing an open platform to stimulate cross-disciplinary interaction and creativity for all university members
