Doctoral candidates' representation 2017/2018

May 19, 2017

On April 20th 2017 a new doctoral candidates' representation was elected at the general assembly. We now want to inform you on some of our goals and emphases for the next year. These are partly continuing work from previous representations.

A survey in 2015/2016 showed that most of the doctoral researchers do not have a supervision agreement with their professors. In future we want to make this as easy as possible and therefore want to provide a template fitting the needs for a successfull doctorate. In the end, we hope that both, doctoral researchers and professors, can benefit from this arrangement.
Additionally, a recent publication showed that doctoral researchers suffer much more often from mental disorders in contrast to comparable groups. In this context we want to have a look at the situation at our university and consequently want to draw attention to structures that exist or are necessary.
We are putting our efforts into a change the act of the doctoral-scholarship of the federal state Schleswig-Holstein. Since the last time it was changed was 2009, it is outdated.
All this goals would be much easier to achieve if we had a seat in the senat, in order to act as a strong voice for the doctoral researchers.
Of course we will also continue to enable you, together with open campus, to visit companies in Schleswig-Holstein, which was a very successful model the last year.

You are kindly invited to also participate in order to improve the situation of the doctoral researchers. If you have own ideas or suggestions do not hesitate to contact us and we will support you in order to improve your situation. You can of course also contact us if you want to get more information about current initiatives.
If you want to have additional information on the general assembly, visit our homepage. There you will find e. g. the protocol. The date for the next general assembly is already fixed on April 19th 2018.

We wish you all the best for your projects and hope to be able to represent your interests successfully,
Bráulio, Faisal, Jannes, Jinru, Karen und Özgür
