Our representative on the Students‘ Union Executive Committee (AStA)

Our representative on the Advisory Board of the Graduate Center, Karen Breiholz, is also working as a consultant on issues relating to the doctorate for the Students‘ Union Executive Committee (AStA) and acts as our liaison with that body.

As consultant on issues relating to the doctorate at the AStA I take the concerns and worries of doctoral candidates very seriously. I offer consulting not only to help interested persons but also to identify common issues and to inform both the Advisory Board of the Graduate Center as well as the Students‘ Union Executive Committee about structural problems with the doctorate and possible solutions.

Every Tuesday between 1 pm and 2 pm I offer consulting free of charge to doctoral candidates and persons interested in pursuing a doctorate in the offices of the AStA at Westring 385. Please contact me via e-mail beforehand!

I offer consulting on the following topics:

  • Pursuing a doctorate – yes or no?

  • How to start a doctorate, including formalities

  • Further education opportunities

  • What to do when difficulties arise

  • Funding

  • Activities of the Doctoral Candidates’ Representation at the Graduate Center

The consulting is strictly confidential. If necessary I will refer you to other consulting bodies at the university. If you have e.g. legal questions the Studierendenservice (matriculation/enrolment), the Graduate Center (licensing agreements) or the staff counsil (employment contracts) can help you.
